Quite busy today, about 40% sure.

Seems to me that most of the fast guys focus on hotlaps rather than race/stint simulations. I'm not entirely sure why, maybe it just gives them a better for the ultimate limit. On the surface it seems to be a counter-intuitive approach considering that qualifying is not so important on LFS comparing to other sims or reality(overtaking is not that hard or risky because of huge straights, big slipstreaming effect, forgiving damage model, etc), but hey, it works for them.

Quote from diegofkda :Are these values accurate and real?

They're pretty accurate, yea. Though some have been known to use funny tricks to boost online distance, but they're part of a very small minority.

Quote from Eclipsed :Suggestion to organization - why not start season, when there is the biggest activity, with bigger tracks? Why start season with 2 smallest tracks? The more people, the bigger mess on short tracks, and as we know, attendance always reduces towards end of season.

Good point.

Nice stuff. Some pretty cool skins out there too.

Pace wasn't pretty, but P9 is still better than expected. Plus I learnt some stuff about the car, which was the goal in the first place anyway.

PS: I was wondering if there's any chance for allowing blocking messages. Admins can always contact racers with Teamspeak and RCW messages.

Car felt woeful on cold tyres. Rolled it early in the race, one lap lost with repairs, any chance for a good result gone. Then after the restart, burnt the rear-right tyre while trying to compensate for chronic understeer, another pitstop to change tyres, more time lost under green. Finally once I got out of traffic, lowered the fuel load, and got decent heat into the tyres, managed to pull consistent 1:02s, but too late. P19, 2 laps down, but hey, at least I saw the chequered flag.

Highlight: 3-wide approaching T4, several laps after the restart. Letting Telkkälä through on the inside, while fighting with a Conquest car on the outside

With the likes of Conquest/HVM/DRR/Panther disappearing, and ECR/SFHR merging, we're now down to just 2 one-car teams(Foyt and BHA). Even though the field is probably closer than ever, tough times for the little guys. Especially with Penske/Ganassi/Andretti fielding half of the field.

Wondering if Fan Force will show up next year? And also, fearing that Rahal will drop to one car with the Guard now gone.

Quote from MoMo92i :Not trying some TUSCC BoP nightmare by merging DP and P2?

Even iRacing knows better than this! Which takes some doing...

Anyway, kind of ironic that MoE doesn't go for a prototype class, after they were so eager to recreate an LMP car in LFS...

Quote from jervaughn :Im running 1:08's on blackwood? (stock setup because I cant tune to save my life.)

is this OK or too slow

Leaders' race pace should be at least in the 1:02s, so that would be around 6 seconds off.

That said default sets are never the way to go on LFS. Try http://www.setupgrid.net/. They have no set for BL1R, but you'll have a hard time finding something worse than default. You can always try a BL1 set with around 2° more front downforce.

Kind of remind me of Bob Smith's "NASCAR Experiment" patch for LFS 0.5X. Using LFSTweak to emulate NASCAR specs on an (RWD) FXO. Far from your average S2000/NGTC touring car, but really a hige blast.

Quote from Rappa Z :For those who don't know, the ChampCar name was apparently purchased by Mark Plourde. He continues to update the series website with results from races that may or may not have taken place in another dimension.

He's either completely delusional or just taking a piss.

Best part is that is that he's been doing that for quite a long while now, to the point of being a running joke for fans and journos alike. You'd think he'd ask himself "what's the point?", and give it up one year or the other, but no, he always finds the inner-motivation to carry on over and over again. Hard to understand his motivations, but you can't question his commitment.

Anyway, the gaps often look quite big-ish in the results, I wonder whether ChampCar has code-60 in his alternate reality Also, it's an even tougher series than IndyCar for young talent to emerge, can't spot any rookies in the field. Long gone are the years of massive driver turn-over in the mid-2000s

Don't bother, Plourde will win again

E: Actually, seems like good old Ricardo Zonta is giving him a good run for his money. Bless him. Great to see that Servia, Tagliani and Junqueira still have full time rides in open wheel. Also, Simon Pagenaud is having a pretty busy year, IndyCar, ChampCar, IMSA, you name it!

Quote from ORION :Mmh I am still waiting for someone to rebuild Blackwood in real life
I consider this layout one of the best, because it is so simple, yet you can pass nearly everywhere.

Agreed. I love the flow in sector 2 and 3. It's really matching the elevation changes well in particular. Great fun to drive with GTRs or the FO8.

The old version I found a bit frustrating personally, a bit too stop-and-start for my liking, but Eric did a good job with the new one, a bit narrower, faster, and more flowing Even if it meant the demise of the chicane tree unfortunately(which shall rest in peace alongside the good old VIR oak tree).

Quote from ORION :Also, I really like the S1 tracks, specially fern bay with all the tricky turns and bumps, and probably because they give the most track day feeling, combined with the normal road cars.

Yea, S1 tracks have that nice "old school" feel to them... I still like S2 tracks of course, but find them a bit sterile and oversized in comparison - most of them were clearly made for the new S2 cars which were mostly faster, granted.

Speaking of the devil(s), Aegarter and van der Mark are both candidates for a MotoGP ride at Forward according to Speedweek.

Quote from troy :Good to see the young guns riding just as well as the "old"school riders in the endurance events.

To be fair, Aegarter has shown some incredible consistency(and a very low crash record too) in Moto2. Especially on the Suter chassis which is known to be a bit harder to setup than the dominating Kalex.

Quote from Anthoop :Superb.
Thanks for the links....could they not find a bigger trophy?

F1 should take note

Have to say that the tracks are a big part of LFS' appeal to me. They're part of LFS' identity, just like Autumn Ring or Grand Valley will always be synonymous with the GT games. As much as laser scanned tracks are awesome for immersion and realism, fictional tracks give sims a world of their own, when done properly.

So thanks for your great work Eric

Quote from three_jump :Actually related to that I'm wondering what sections / corners Eric prefers or doesn't like.

Same here.
